Groups

Drighlington Methodist Church is proud to host church and community groups in our community hall. Please contact us for more information about any of the groups below.

Please note that we follow strict safeguarding regulations. Details of our safeguarding policy can be found here. For more information on this, please contact safeguarding@drighlingtonmethodist.org.uk.

First Steps - Children and Teenager's Ministry

Our children and teenagers are an integral part of Sunday worship. First Steps read the Scriptures, write and read prayers, take part in drama and have fun together. Our children and teenagers also develop skills by leading worship services, such as on Mothering Sunday and the Candlelit Carol Concert organised by Charlie, who played the organ. Our teenagers also help to prepare the laptop, screens and presentations for worship every week.

First Steps welcomes children and teenagers of all ages!

Drighlington Foodbank

The Foodbank was set up 7 years ago in the church hall. It remained opened during the pandemic, as such services were exempt under Government rules.

As a result, we have fed over 3,500 people, received more donations than ever before from supermarkets and individuals, as well as fresh food from local shops, financial donations and grants. Our team of volunteers has expanded, allowing many more people to show their love and care for others, and we've helped set up two more foodbanks across the circuit.

The Foodbank is open every Monday from 1.00pm-3.00pm. We are also open as a 'Warm Space' from 11am before the Foodbank opens. Visit the Facebook page for more details.

YNTO (You're Never Too Old)

YNTO started so older people in the community could meet regularly to chat, make new friends and have a cuppa!

We play games like table tennis to keep body and mind fit, as well as card and board games, darts, have weekly quizzes, get creative and enjoy life again.

New friends always welcome! The group averages over 30 to 40 members every week. Join us on Thursdays from 1-3pm.
