Community Hall

Community Hall

Drighlington Methodist Church's commitment to love and serve extends to the use of our community hall for use by many groups of all ages from across our community. If you'd like to hire the hall for an event, please contact us

We're currently fundraising for a significant project to expand the community hall space, make it accessible for all, improve the dated facade and improve our green credentials. We're posting regular updates on our blog.

Our Vision:

  • To provide a safe, warm, flexible space that is accessible to all

  • To provide opportunities for people to meet together in a safe space

  • To be welcoming with hospitality areas where everyone can share hopes and dreams.

  • To be a green and sustainable place fit for the twenty-first century including digital technology.

  • As the people of God, to be open to new opportunities for service within this space.

The new hall will allow more groups to meet at the same time while ensuring that each group has access to toilets, refreshments and separate entry and exit.

In order to fulfil our mission to treasure the environment and commit to sustainability in view of the growing climate crisis, the new hall will have excellent green credentials. We're working towards the Eco Church Bronze Award (An A Rocha UK project), which requires an in-depth look at our present practices, making our buildings as sustainable and energy efficient as possible now, and encouraging everyone to play their part in becoming more aware - because small steps matter.

Throughout the community hall renovation project, we'll recycle and reuse materials as much as possible, harvest grey water from the valleys in the roof, install photovoltaic panels, consolidate the three separate heating systems and stop using gas, install insulation, energy efficient lighting to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible. We'll also use local companies and contractors and environmentally friendly materials as much as we can.

If you'd like to know more about this project or make a donation, please get in touch.
